Nationally the YMCA serves more
than 20 million people each year, uniting men, women and
children of all ages, faiths, backgrounds, abilities and
income levels.

From urban areas to small towns, YMCAs are at the heart of
community life in the United States: 42 million families and
72 million households are located within three miles of a
YMCA. In fact, more Americans belong to a YMCA than live in
the five largest U.S. cities.

The YMCA, in its 150 year history, must be appreciated as a
compelling chronicle of power of character and values in
creating meaningful lives. For each life that has been
supported, nurtured, strengthened and touched, a remarkable
chapter in the YMCA story has been told.

Now, a new volume is about to be written…a new opportunity
to spread wings of service to our community, offering
facilities and programs which will have a positive impact on
lives by providing a well-rounded, safe place to socialize
and learn. With your support, a brand new YMCA will come to the
heart of Avery County, offering venues unmatched in our
area, destined to become a hallmark.

The brand new, state-of-the-art YMCA of Avery County, to be
located on the Charles A. Cannon, Jr. Memorial Hospital
Campus, will open soon. This YMCA will offer the best
opportunities for personal health and wellness, kids’
activities, team sports, teen venues, active older adult
programs and community interaction.

We hope you'll browse our website to learn more about the
YMCA and all it has to offer. Contact us if you have
