lap lanes for lap swim as well as open pool times for recreational swimming and family swim.
Pool Schedule
Water Fitness
Did you know that a 30 minute walk in the water is equivalent to a two hour walk on land? Water resistance offers an excellent
opportunity for muscle toning and body sculpting. Water also cools the body during exercise which reduces stress on the heart and
reduces the risk of injury by lessening the impact on weight-bearing joints, muscles, and bones. With two types of water fitness
classes being offered, there is something for everyone. We have a deep-water classes and a shallow-water class. Each class is
designed to give your body a work out while taking away the stress that comes with land-based exercise. These classes combine
water-resistance exercise with aerobic activity for a total body workout.
Private Swim Lessons
Personal instruction by our trained teachers is a great way to to get started, stay Motivated, learn new techniques, and receive that
special one-on-one YMCA attention. Great opportunity for those who are struggling in group lessons and want to catch up or move
ahead of their class. Sessions consist of four half hour lessons. Please contact Brooke Diller or call 828.737.5500.
Group Swim Lessons
Generations of families have learned to swim at the YMCA. The tradition continues in the YMCA of Avery County pool. New programs
are continually being added to enhance your swimming experience. No matter what your level of ability or age, the
YMCA has a class for you.
